Farm facilities such as a milking parlour, grain store, sheep and cattle housing facilities, and handling facilities means students gain firsthand experience of the modern forms of equipment they can expect to encounter in their future careers.

LOCATION/TRANSPORT

Mountbellew Agricultural College is located in the market town of Mountbellew, Co Galway. It is situated 47kms from Galway City, 39kms from Athlone, Co Westmeath, 128 kms from Limerick and 163kms from Dublin.

SUSTAINABILITY

Mountbellew Agricultural College places a strong emphasis on sustainability and agriculture in the environment through its programmes and being a Signpost Farm.

The Signpost programme is a multi-annual campaign to lead climate action by all Irish farmers. The programme aims to:

  • achieve early progress in reducing gaseous emissions from agriculture
  • improve water quality
  • maintain and where possible to improve bio-diversity
  • reduce costs and create more profitable and sustainable farming enterprises
